So there really isn't a salary cap this season? Fuck too bad Eddie D. isnt around to spend the money to get the things the niners need to win a championship. This better not turn out to be the cowboys going wild like kids in a candy store.

If anything though expect less free agent movement with out a salary cap. Many players that would have been free agents in a capped year are now considered "restricted" FAs. As well, the top four teams from last season can only sign a free agent when they lose one.

I think in this uncapped year it will be much harder for the bad teams to improve than in previous years. Most free agents will probably be snapped up within the first day of free agency.

Also, I'd be surprised if they don't get a cap back in place at some point after next season(depending on what happens with the collective bargaining agreement).

The Seabass deal is almost comical though. This team has so many more issues to address. Spending that type of money on a kicker is usually a luxury only top teams can think about doing.

ya but janikowski is a luxary that most teams would grab in a heartbeat. guy nails 50+ field goals all day long. there aint much kickers that can do it, field position is an over looked part of football, to be able to consistently have touchbacks on a kickoff, and to be able to boot 50+ yard field goals were other teams would punt and then to be able to punt the ball 60+ yards everytime is a great thing. now if we had a real return man that be nice

It's not like we don't have the money to lock up Seabass. It takes a lot to keep a guy here, and if you have to overpay anybody good, even if it's the K and P, you do it if you can. Both are the best at their positions by far. It's not even close IMO.

LaDainian Tomlinson, fighting his emotions at times, bid farewell to the Chargers, their fans and the city of San Diego on Wednesday afternoon during a news conference at Maderas Golf Club in Poway.

Tomlinson, released Monday after nine record-breaking seasons, thanked Chargers fans and San Diego, and also his wife, LaTorsha, at which time he started crying.

“Sometimes emotions make a person, and you guys know I’ve always worn my emotions on my sleeve,” he said, wiping tears from his eyes. “For that, I’m not sorry.”

Tomlinson said during his meeting Monday with Chargers President Dean Spanos and other team officials, he was not given an explanation for his release.

“I didn’t think there needed to be,” he said.

Tomlinson, who will turn 31 in June, reiterated he would not retire, saying he’s “still chasing the championship ring” and thinks he has three or four seasons left to play.

He added: “I definitely still want to play. I still have a lot to give to the game. Not only the performance part, but the mentoring part, teaching young guys. … I’m excited about the future.”

Tomlinson said he didn’t know where his career would resume, but he made one promise: It won’t be in Oakland.

“The Raiders are pretty set in the backfield,” he said. Then, with a smile, he added, “Even if they weren’t, I wouldn’t become a Raider.”

Totally uncalled for shot to the Raiders but who really cares? If this was the LT of 2 or 3 years ago then he could say something but right now he is not anywhere near any 1 of our 3 headed monster.

no offense to that. He just doesn't want to play for the hated rival Raiders. I see nothing wrong with that. It's like Jackie Robinson choosing to retire instead of playing for the hated rival Giants.

meanwhile, the Raiders non-exclusive Franchise tagged Seymour, which would cost the Raiders 12.4M. They have been in talks for a long-term contract, which have "heated up in recent days".

I've also read a rumor about the Raiders looking to trade Asomugha. To me the sole reason why the Raiders would do that is obvious: get off the hook of his contract. But theorically the Raiders should be able to get a good haul in exchange for Asomugha. But then again, Asomugha's contract may undercut any talks.

trading asomugha would suck, but we could get a 1st rounder for sure and a 2nd and prolly a later pick too. but with our draft results the last decade we could have 10 picks in the 1st round an none of em would pan out

No way they'd get that good of a deal for him. He's a very good player, but it'd be tough to find a team willing to take on that huge of a contract and give up that much of a bounty.

The Raiders have broken up their 3 headed monster: Fargas is released.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-raiders-fargas&prov=ap&type=lgns
Said he's released cuz he failed a physical, but to me it's more of a salary dump.

Also, Raiders re-signed RT Barnes to a 1 yr deal.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-raiders-barnes&prov=ap&type=lgns

also, from what i heard on the radio, the Raiders have made an offer to Gradkowski, so it looks like he may return. Lets hope tho.

THANK YOU!

Raiders released Javon Walker, but they also released Greg Ellis.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-raiders-moves&prov=ap&type=lgns

Happy as hell Walker's gone and his salary is off our books. A bit surprised Ellis is released, but then again he's kinda up there in age and his injuries haven't left him. Hope this means the Raiders will be eyeing some linemen in the Draft as i hope for.

Swish...you're on it man. Od about Ellis, but yeah, up there in age. DRAFT A D LINEMAN PLEASE!! Looks as though Khalil Barnes will assume the RT roll too as Cornell Green is off to sunny Buffalo. 3 yr deal for him there.

Keep Grad. He's not bad at all and could continue to develop and surprise. Davis' obsession with Russell fucking sucks. I hate Russell. Hue Jackson can hopefully make something, ANYTHING out of Russell.

I'd like to see the Raiders draft nasty defensive kids and pick up some guys in free agency to fill on the offensive side of the ball. There's enough talent and youth in the WR corps, some lineman can be had on FA and this as far as I'm concerned is Michael Bush's show. But it might be kinda fun to see the Raiders add a D. Sproles or B Westbrook into the mix. Nice guy to shift out of the backfield for some screens and let Gallery run down the field and pancake anyone in his way. Now I'm dreaming.

Sproles is staying in SD, and tho Westbrook can be a beast (key word: can) i'm not sold on his health. I'm not a fan of damaged goods.

The only really good DE left on the market would be Will Smith but who knows if he is willing to come to Oakland after winning a championship with the Saints. There is a huge drop off after that as the best left would be Adewale Ogunleye. Please sign Will Smith somehow though. Our D-Line would improve greatly with him and Seymour.

Scratch that I looked at a really old list that didn't even get updated on Will Smith's contract extension 2 years ago.

i'll say it again, linemen in the Draft.

We do have Shaunessey (sp) whom Cable is very high on that plays DE. I don't think the Raiders will, nor they should, look into FA for a DE let alone DT. Just get em in the Draft.

But honestly, Ogunleye wouldn't be too bad on a 1 or 2 year contract. His value has fallen off because of his age but he still produces good numbers. My guess is maybe 4-5M per would work and if anything he pushes Shaunessey and Seymour.

The 1st free agent connected to the Raiders. Take a guess. Here's some clues:

1) He's played in the AFC West before
2) He's a former 1st round pick
3) In 06-07 he rushed for over 1700 yards

Anyways per rotoworld:

Quote:
In addition to the Redskins, free agent Larry Johnson reportedly has a visit lined up with the Raiders.
Profootballtalk.com reports that Johnson will arrive in Alameda on Sunday. It's not what Michael Bush fantasy owners wanted to hear. Raiders owner Al Davis loves him some former first-round reclamation projects but, again, the fit is rather strange because Oakland runs the zone-blocking scheme.

Raiders cut DT Warren.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-raiders-warren&prov=ap&type=lgns

So far so good this offseason...oh shit i probably jinxed it. >.<

as far as talks of LJ. If the Raiders cut McFadden (dumping his salary) then i'd be cool with signing LJ, but i still want Bush to be our starting RB no matter what.

Raiders made a trade.

Received DE/OLB Wimbley from Cleveland in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
